Transition Talks with Lolo Silver

Lolo Silver, a former Team USA athlete, reflects on her career as a professional water polo player and her transition to life after sport. Her decision to step away from the sport followed a gradual process of developing interests outside of athletics after not qualifying for the London Olympics. She emphasizes the importance of finding personal balance, noting that not all athletes need to be fully consumed by their sport. For some, having both athletic and vocational goals leads to greater fulfillment and success.

In Transition Talks, former athletes share their stories of athletic retirement and transition, and give practical advice on how to mitigate the challenges athletes face when they retire from athletic competition. Each episode focuses on one athlete’s journey after sports and a specific challenge they struggle with.

Athletes Soul is a non-profit organization founded and run by former athletes. Our mission is to support retiring athletes as they transition out of sports and raise awareness about the challenges of athletic retirement. To find out more, visit us here.
