Hi, my name is Joseph Bromfield and I am a Placement Counselor with Southern Teachers Agency, which means that I wear many different hats from working with schools, independent schools across the South from Maryland to Delaware. I personally with my, the hat that I wear I work with a lot of schools in Florida because I did my undergraduate degree in Florida and then we also work with schools as far west as Texas and we're kind of one of those bridge-building companies that introduces young teachers to independent schools where they can start a career or they can have a stop-off for three or five years before they go back to graduate school or any number of paths. My workflow begins with interviewing candidates so that's one of the favorite parts that I have about my job is that I get to meet people, talk to people, sometimes develop candidate crushes because I meet really interesting people that have done incredible things and so that's where I pick up is doing the initial interview and then trying to get to know them and figure out how we can advocate for them and place them, what their ideal independent school model might be. We've got busy season which really starts kind of launching into the holiday season through the jobs fairs, that's when schools are hiring. That's when they're hearing from their teachers, "Oh you're not returning next year "we need to find somebody, we need to find a replacement." And so that kind of, that lasts really January through mid-June. And so there is traveling during that period but it's less. We have our job fairs during that period so some of the traveling that we do is as an office and we go to Atlanta, this year we're going to Dallas and we're also hosting one here in Charlottesville. Sometimes we'll do video interviews or video resumes for our candidates. So they'll come in and we'll put them on camera for one to two minutes, kind of as a video introduction similar to what this is and say, "Hi, my name is Joseph Bromfield "and I wanna be your next English teacher," or, "I wanna be your next theater teacher or Spanish teacher "or math, physics," whatever it is.
