Navigating Representation in Venture Capital

uConnect Logo

This panel will seek to get input from a diverse range of LGBTQ investors (within different fields and focused on venture capital (VC)) to comment on the need for diversity in the investing world and how we can encourage aspiring and upcoming candidates to support and focus on change. The lack of representation with company founders is well known with an underrepresentation of LGBTQ founded companies raising only 0.5% of the total capital raised between 2020 to 2022. Not as throughly reported, is the equal lack of representation in VC investors providing funding to our minority led startups. In order to help bridge the gap between diverse founders, we will need investors with diverse backgrounds too to support more successful outcomes.

This event is for people who: 1. Are looking to get insights into the VC world and be apart of growing the VC community to be more diverse 2. LGBTQ+ and other minority candidates looking to get into VC 3. Minority led founders looking to understand the VC world and be apart of the conversation

Key Learnings: Attendees will hopefully learn about the current VC ecosystem and how diverse it is as well as why having a diverse VC investor community is important. The panel will also aim to comment on what tools and/or resources are available to support a more diverse VC community.
