Network Operations Control (NOC) is the heart of United Airlines, keeping operations at our airports and routes running smoothly through planning, organization, and supervision. The Flight Dispatcher, a crucial role in the NOC, is responsible for joint operational control with the Pilot in Command to ensure the safe, legal, and efficient operation of United Airlines flights in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations and Company Manuals.
This position is responsible for supporting the Flight Dispatch group in the NOC to include working on multiple projects, assisting with manual revision and publication process, various administrative duties and teaming with stakeholders to support functional deliverables to Dispatch leadership. Projects range in duration and complexity from quick analyses to large scale transformative efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend meetings and perform meeting scribe responsibilities
- Coordinate with stakeholders to revise and publish Dispatch manuals, checklists, City Pair Briefing Guides (CPBG), and other publications in accordance with dispatch standardization
- Perform Dispatch Line Check Dispatcher (LCD) administrative duties that may include assigning Dispatch desk checks, coordinate meetings, and desk check documentation tracking
- Assist in the development and improvement of Dispatch desk check material to provide statistical data metrics for dispatch training and policy implementation
- Assist the on-duty Manager of Dispatch Operations (MDO) or Chief Dispatcher as required (administrative tasks, scheduling issues, etc.)
- Collaborate with IT development teams on the integration of dispatch data into new operational decision support tools and platforms (Skyplan, Kronos, and Pelesys)
Additional tasks/project work as assigned by Dispatch leadership
This internship is designed solely to provide you with skill development and valuable work experience. This role will likely not convert to a full-time position at United at the conclusion of the internship.

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Airline operations experience or knowledge attained from FAA Aircraft Dispatcher coursework
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on teamwork
- Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to handle simultaneous projects and adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment
