Join us in our mission to preserve, enhance, and restore the quality of the San Francisco Bay Region’s water resources through the oversight and management of stormwater discharges, including stormwater capture and use.
The San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board has an opening for a permanent/full-time Water Resource Control Engineer in the stormwater program of the Watershed Management Division. We offer a flexible work schedule and telework with regular in-person attendance at the office and for fieldwork. The office is located at 1515 Clay Street, Suite 1400, Oakland, CA 94612.
Duties:
The incumbent will perform engineering technical work related to the Water Board’s implementation of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) stormwater programs and to increase stormwater capture and use efforts in the region. Using engineering and regulatory skills, the incumbent will evaluate, review, check, and interpret stormwater permit applications, technical reports, specifications, and monitoring data; issue stormwater permits; conduct compliance inspections and audits; identify incentives to increase stormwater capture and use; prepare reports; and draft orders for Board consideration. The incumbent will also play a key role in implementation of the Phase I NPDES municipal stormwater program throughout the region, including implementing key green infrastructure planning, Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) pollutant control, and monitoring requirements.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
