REQUIREMENTS
- Completion of an accredited school of nursing or physician assistance program
- Board certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- National certification
- Active CA license
- BLS certification
- Current CPR
- Minimum 1 year of professional experience in a clinic setting is preferred
- First Assist preferred
Professional clinical experience in a clinic setting is preferred. Candidates should have exceptional people and communication skills, be highly skilled in multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment, a commitment to achieving a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, and a no-task-too-small approach to the work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates health plan initiatives.
- Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility.
- Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients.
- Maintain medical records.
- Triage patient telephone calls and provide consultation.
- Manage medical and surgical emergencies.
- OR assist.
- Possible inpatient rounds.
- Perform a complete physical examination and record findings.
- Collaborate with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
- Review lab and radiology results, in consultation with supervising physician.
- Interpret and integrate data and order laboratory studies, x-rays and other diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Submit patient health care plan and goals of individual patients for periodic review and evaluation by physician.
- Counsel patients and their families on health promotion, diagnosis, prognosis and management options.
- Recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
- Instruct patient and authorized family members regarding medications and treatment instructions. Provide patient education.
- Provide monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
- Home call to cover phone as well as possible inpatient round every 3 weeks.
- Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
- Participate in professional development and maintain professional affiliations.
- Maintain strictest patient confidentiality in compliance with Federal and State laws.
