We are seeking a Automation Intern to join our Pueblo, Colorado team. This individual will learn how to operate in a real mill setting and interact with plant personnel, as well as external suppliers and contractors to execute manufacturing-based projects.
This positions is a part-time position for students currently enrolled in a 2 or 4 years engineering program. You will be expected to be onsite at Rocky Mountain Steel Mills located in Pueblo, CO.
- Must passionately follow health and safety practices
- Support and learn from automation engineers in troubleshooting PLC, HMI, Drives (VFD’s) and communication networks
- Assist in developing, testing, and documenting control logic and process improvements
- Participate in maintenance and reliability activities related to automation systems
- Help collect and analyze production data for process optimization
- Support commissioning and modification of automation system on production lines
- Maintain proper documentation of control systems, wiring diagrams, and software changes
- Basic knowledge of how sensors, controllers, and actuators work together (PID’s, PWM, etc.)
- Perform electromechanical diagnostic activity
- Work with production to implement new equipment
- Plan and document control system design, test, verification and maintenance documents
- Maintain good attendance
- Performs other duties as they might be assigned
