The New York Athletic Club – Travers Island is seeking motivated and enthusiastic leaders to take part in our internship program. Interns will have a primary area of focus but will have the opportunity to be involved in a rotational component to gain experience and exposure to other Club departments.
The Cabana Management Intern is responsible for supervising and running the Cabana/Lawn area. The Intern will manage the operation and concentrate on the operating results of all cabana facilities and lawn area with emphasis on the quality of service offered to members of the Club. The Intern will report directly to the Lawn Manager.
This is preferably a Junior or Senior who has previously held an internship.
Job Duties include but are not limited to:
- Collaborate on weekly schedules with the Lawn Manager.
- Ensure that staff are in compliance with Club policies and uniformly enforcing Club rules with members and guests.
- Execute daily operation of the Cabanas, Pool, and Sports Shop. Be able to assist Pool Snack Bar and Tiki Bar as needed.
- Perform multiple daily walkthroughs of Pool and Cabana area, reporting any maintenance issues as they arise.
- Communicate staff issues, concerns, and disciplinary actions to the Lawn Manager.
- Ensure cleanliness of all components of the Cabana area (Pool, Sports Shop, Tiki Bar, Lawn, Pool Snack Bar, restrooms, etc.).
- Maintain proper signage throughout the Cabana area.
- Execute the setup, operation, and breakdown of any event taking place in the Cabana area.
- Assist in inventory of Sports Shop.
Must be comfortable working weekends and holidays. Must be willing to accommodate extended holiday hours. Must be comfortable commuting early mornings and late nights.
