Staff Accountant (Entry‑Level)
Our certified public accounting (CPA) firm is seeking a self‑motivated staff accountant to join our growing team in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. This entry‑level position is ideal for recent or soon‑to‑be accounting graduates who want hands‑on experience in tax, audit and general accounting services while working toward their CPA licensure. You will work closely with senior accountants and managers to serve our clients and develop your professional skills in a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements. Assist in preparing financial statements and ensure that they are accurate and comply with applicable laws and regulations.
- Compute and file taxes. Support tax engagements by computing taxes owed, preparing and filing tax returns, and helping clients comply with tax rules.
- Maintain financial records. Organize, analyze and maintain client accounting records and enter accounting data into the firm’s systems
- Assist with audit engagements. Examine account books and accounting systems for efficiency and accuracy, identify potential risks for fraud and contribute to audit procedures.
- Perform reconciliations and reporting. Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and other schedules; recommend ways to reduce costs and enhance revenues
- Client interaction. Communicate professionally with clients, addressing questions and documenting decisions, while maintaining a high level of client satisfaction
- Team collaboration. Work collaboratively under the supervision of senior accountants and managers; participate in firm activities and professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (or near completion) in accounting or a related field; qualified or planning to meet requirements to sit for the CPA exam.
- Technical skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook) and a solid understanding of accounting principles. Experience with accounting software is helpful but not required.
- Communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain financial concepts to clients and colleagues.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Client service: Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, integrity and client satisfaction.
