Research Assistant position with Lallemand Animal Nutrition
We are seeking a US-based Research Assistant to join the Forage Center of Excellence (FCE), as part of Lallemand Animal Nutrition’s mechanistic R&D group. This is a full-time position that is on-site located in Chazy, NY.
The Forage Center of Excellence is a mechanistic R&D lab focusing on silage microbiology, and is located onsite at the William H. Miner Institute. Lallemand Animal Nutrition is committed to optimizing animal performance and well-being with specific natural microbial product and service solutions. Being onsite at the Miner Institute allows for a strategic collaboration with their faculty on various projects. The William H. Miner Institute is non-profit organization that is renowned for research and education with focuses on dairy farming, agronomy, and environmental studies.
Responsibilities associated with this position include, but is not limited to:
- Assistance with ensiling and feeding trials
- Assistance with in-vitro trials and assays
- Maintaining experimental bunkers
- Microbiology-related tasks
- Biochemistry related lab assays
- Molecular biology – DNA extraction, real-time qPCR
- Data entry
- Other tasks as requested
Required qualifications:
- Laboratory experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- At times, applicant must be comfortable lifting up to 30 lbs, performing physically exerting tasks, and prolonged periods of standing
Though not required, preferred experience and skills include:
- Previous experience with silage, including farm-scale bunkers
- Specific lab experience in microbiology, molecular biology, and biochemistry
- Ability to multi-task
- Good communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively
- Ability to work autonomously
