Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and innovative Program Director for Dance and Social Impact. This role will focus on empowering college students and mobilizing aspiring students on middle and high school campuses through the transformative power of dance. The director will create programs and campaigns that leverage dance as a medium to raise awareness, inspire action, and unite communities for positive social change.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Development and Leadership: Design and lead programs that incorporate dance as a means of expression and community mobilization, connecting participants with VoiceUp’s mission of social justice and positive change.
Culturally Diverse Performances: Plan and lead dance performances that showcase culturally diverse forms of dance, spanning different languages and ethnicities to highlight and celebrate global unity.
Social Impact Performances: Lead social impact and creative dance performances on college and university campuses, at after-school programs, and other community-based initiatives to inspire activism and foster community involvement.
Quarterly Community Events: Host quarterly dance performances that bring the community together around a common cause, using dance to foster unity and shared purpose.
Student Engagement: Mobilize college students and middle and high school students to participate in dance-based initiatives that inspire activism and foster community involvement.
Workshops and Events: Organize virtual and in-person workshops, dance performances, and events that highlight the role of dance in bringing attention to social justice causes and uniting communities.
Partnership Building: Collaborate with dance organizations, schools, community centers, and social justice groups to develop strategic partnerships.
Content Creation: Work with the VoiceUp team to create engaging digital content that showcases dance performances, stories, and initiatives to amplify awareness and action.
Mentorship and Guidance: Provide mentorship to student leaders and aspiring dancers, guiding them on how to use their talents to drive meaningful social change.
Feedback and Evaluation: Implement systems to collect feedback from participants and evaluate the effectiveness of dance programs, making improvements as needed.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a higher learning institution, including two-year or four-year colleges, universities, or trade schools.
Or recent alumni with very strong on campus real time connections.
Experience in dance education, choreography, or dance program leadership.
Strong understanding of social justice and community mobilization.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Creativity and a proactive approach to program development.
Passion for working with students and fostering growth through the arts.
Ability to lead and inspire diverse groups of participants.
