MOOD is a groundbreaking grassroots organization built by and for students who believe in the transformative power of creative writing. We’re creating a national movement that amplifies student voices through poetry and prose, turning creative expression into a catalyst for social change. As a student-led initiative, we believe that those closest to the challenges in our communities are best positioned to write about and address them.
Position Overview
We’re seeking a visionary student or recent graduate to serve as Program Director, leading our remote creative writing initiative. This is a ground-floor opportunity to shape a national movement connecting creative writing to social justice. The director will build and nurture a community of student writers while developing programs that amplify voices for change.
Key Responsibilities
– Design and lead virtual programs engaging fellow students in social justice writing
– Build a national network of campus-based writing communities
– Facilitate online writing workshops and creative sessions
– Develop digital platforms for sharing student work
– Create peer mentorship programs
– Organize virtual poetry slams and writing festivals
– Establish partnerships with student organizations and advocacy groups
– Track program impact and community growth
– Shape organizational culture and strategy from the ground up
Eligibility Requirements
Current Students
– Currently enrolled in any accredited higher education institution (community college, undergraduate, or graduate programs)
– Demonstrated interest in creative writing and social justice
– Experience organizing student groups or initiatives
– Strong digital communication skills
– Ability to balance academic commitments with leadership role
Recent Alumni
– Graduated within the last 3 years from an accredited institution
– Maintained strong connections to campus communities
– Experience in student organizing or leadership
– Background in creative writing or literary activities
– demonstrated commitment to social justice work
Desired Experience (for both categories)
– Leadership in student organizations or movements
– Experience organizing writing workshops or creative events
– Published writing (student publications, blogs, literary magazines, etc.)
– Social media and digital community management
– Event planning and program coordination
– Experience working with diverse student populations
