Internship Title: Museum Collections Digitization Internship – Spring 2025
Internship Location: History Colorado Center, Denver, CO (This position is in-person and not available for remote work.)
Education Grant: $1,000 which can be used to pay for college courses and/or applied towards student loans.
Qualified candidates may receive academic credit through their college or university. *Check with your school’s Internship Coordinator BEFORE accepting the hiring offer to determine if this position satisfies the criteria for receiving academic credit.

Desired Schedule: 6 hours/week (January – May, 2025).
Broad Scope of Position: The intern will scan historic documents and photographs, rename and organize the files and update the catalog records. The intern will work on multiple collections that need digitization for preservation and improved digital access to History Colorado’s collections.
Duties:
- Safely handle fragile paper, newspapers, and photographic materials
- Inventory the materials while digitizing
- Scan and photograph the collections
- Individually catalog the papers, newspapers, and photographs
- Audit records and ensure accurate data is captured in each record
Outcomes: This internship will provide the student or recent graduate with valuable on-the-job training. Students will learn how to catalog, update database records, handle historic documents, digitization and scanning procedures, renaming files and organizing digital files.
Desired Skills & Academic Field of Study: Current or recent undergraduate or Master’s student with focus in Museum Studies, Library Science, History, Anthropology, or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience working with digitization projects, including reconciling data
- Must be organized and detail-oriented
- Must be able to work independently
- Ability to climb ladders, carry boxes, crouch, and possibly lift items weighing 25 lbs. or more
- Must be able to work at a computer for long periods of time.
