We’re looking for a motivated and outgoing Employer Engagement Intern to help expand inclusive employment opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities.
In this internship, you’ll focus on connecting with local businesses, promoting our mission, and identifying job openings, tours, and shadowing opportunities. Your outreach will help open doors for adults with developmental disabilities working toward greater independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct outreach to local businesses through visits, calls, networking, and community events.
- Build and maintain relationships with employers to promote inclusive hiring and partnership opportunities.
- Identify job openings and collaborate with employers to explore job carving, customized roles, or short-term trials.
- Coordinate job shadowing, on-site observations, and introductory experiences for participants.
- Gather and track employer feedback to support long-term partnerships.
- Maintain simple, accurate documentation of contacts, opportunities, and outreach activities.
- Work closely with the internal team to match employer opportunities with participant interests and strengths.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Friendly, professional, and comfortable approaching local businesses.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to complete required trainings.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in community outreach, customer service, sales, or business engagement.
- Comfort speaking with employers.
- Interest in inclusive hiring, disability employment, or diversity initiatives.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in community settings with guidance from the team.
