As a Camp Leadership Intern, candidates will work with school-aged, and at some sites pre-school aged, children in summer camps, outdoor environmental education programs and specialty/recreational programs. This is a leadership development position and candidates are expected to grow and take on leadership roles.
Job Duties:
- Assists in the delivery of interpretive programs to participants of all ages in a variety of contexts.
- May lead educational and recreational hikes, canoe and kayak trips plus excursion off-site camp programs.
- Design summer camp games and crafts that are age appropriate
- May assist with planning and instruction of the CIT (Counselor-in-Training) Orientation (only offered at certain sites)
- Ensure a fun, educational and safe environment for children.
- May assist with First-Aid duties.
- May lead daily summer camper activities, such as teaching, crafts, games, etc.
- Provides general customer service and park information to visitors.
- May include live animal care and handling.
- Assist with camp building and trail maintenance as it relates to summer camp and programs
- Provide direction and answer questions of program participants
- Help gather materials and assist in set up and clean-up for assigned program.
- Report suggestions and observations.
- May assist in operation of Nature Center; tours/ explanation of exhibits, cleanliness, answer phone, answer questions, restock information brochures and guides and provide direction.
- Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Other duties as assigned.
