Camp Walt Whitman is seeking Bike Trip Leaders for the summer.
We are seeking enthusiastic and responsible Bike Trip Leaders to guide unforgettable bike-packing adventures for our campers aged 14 and 15. These 4-5 day coed trips traverse the scenic landscapes of New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine, with overnight stays at campsites along the route. In addition to leading bike-packing trips, you will also have opportunities to lead hiking and backpacking excursions in the stunning White Mountains of New Hampshire.
This is a unique opportunity to inspire young adventurers, foster a love for the outdoors, and create lifelong memories.
Key Responsibilities:
Trip Leadership:
- Plan and lead 4-5 day coed bike-packing trips, ensuring camper safety, enjoyment, and personal growth.
- Manage route navigation, pacing, and logistics, including setting up and breaking down campsites.
- Facilitate team-building and outdoor skills development among campers.
Safety and Emergency Preparedness:
- Obtain Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certification (training provided if not already certified).
- Maintain safety standards on all trips, addressing potential risks and emergencies with calmness and professionalism.
Camper Engagement:
- Build positive relationships with campers, promoting inclusivity, resilience, and confidence.
- Serve as a role model, fostering respect for the environment and Leave No Trace principles.
