Bechtel’s internship program was created to cultivate real-life industry interest based on hands-on experience. Many new university graduate hires began their careers at Bechtel as a summer intern. Locations will vary based on project needs and may include Houston, TX, Reston, VA, or various project sites.
Electrical Engineering interns work in multi-disciplinary teams and provide support to the design of electrical power systems and equipment for a variety of industry projects.
Electrical Engineering interns may be responsible for:
- Preparing single-line, metering and relaying, schematics, and protection logic drawings.
- Performing electrical system, equipment sizing, and auxiliary system calculations.
- Sizing, selecting, and specifying transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, and distribution panels.
- Sizing, selecting and specifying power, control, and instrumentation cables.
- Sizing, selecting and specifying direct-current/uninterruptible power supplies and emergency generator systems.
- Performing raceway, grounding, lighting, and cathodic protection drawings.
Basic Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a four-year Bachelor of Science degree program in Electrical Engineering at an accredited college or university.
- Completed at least one year of undergraduate studies in the above field.
- Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the US without visa sponsorship, now or in the future.
- Ability and willingness to relocate and/or travel to domestic and/or international project jobsites.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Master of Science degree program in Electrical Engineering at an accredited college or university.
- Completed relevant coursework with a strong GPA.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
