We’re looking for a Game Design Intern to help concept, design, and refine gamified features that make the college application process feel less overwhelming and more motivating. If you’re passionate about games, behavior design, user motivation, and building delightful experiences — we’d love to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- As a game design intern, potential responsibilities include:
- Brainstorm and design gamification systems that encourage students to complete tasks
- Create clear documentation including feature specs, flowcharts, and user interactions
- Work with product and engineering to prototype and implement gameplay-inspired features
- Analyze user behavior, engagement patterns, and feedback to refine mechanics
- Help design reward systems, progress tracking, and motivational elements
- Assist in testing features to ensure they are functional, fun, and aligned with user needs
Qualifications
- Interest or coursework in Game Design, Interactive Media, Human-Computer Interaction, or related fields
- Understanding of core game design principles (motivation, progression, reward loops, etc.)
- Ability to create simple wireframes or diagrams (Figma, Miro, or similar tools)
- Creativity, curiosity, and empathy for users navigating stressful processes
- Comfortable working remotely and asynchronously
- Bonus: Experience with gamification, educational products, or UX design
