ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- The Field Technician repairs water meters and performs meter reading of Authority’s water meters and performs CCTV of collection piping, manhole inspections, distribution valve exercising and fire hydrant repairs.
- The field Technician performs maintenance on variety of equipment such as chlorine pumps, booster pumps, lift station pumps, check valves, diesel generators, and diesel pumps, valves, air vacs, and prv’s.
- Collect water and wastewater samples for analysis in accordance with State standards and performs minor lab test such as PH and CL2, in accordance with State and ACWWA policy
- The field Technician monitors and inspects ACWWA physical facilities; takes appropriate action in accordance with policy and procedures
- Performs water treatment and lift stations rounds; well checks, lift stations checks, and routine flushing of the distribution system.
- Performs minor vehicle maintenance.
- The Field Technician responds to customer service issues and follows up according to ACWWA policy. Responds to emergency calls as necessary, attend required regulatory meetings and observes safe work practices.
- Conducts a variety of administrative tasks such as maintaining logs and recording observations, ordering supplies and general clerical duties.
- Provides regular inputs on team problems solving on treatment systems and use predictable maintenance tools.
- Understating of the PLC SCADA HMI control for the Field Operations equipment.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
- Hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work
- Equipment, techniques, and procedures involved in the maintenance and repair of sewer systems and related facilities and equipment
- Related laws, ordinances, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Operation and maintenance of wide variety of hand and power tools and equipment common to the field
- Hydraulic dynamics of water distribution system and wastewater collection system.
- Safe work methods and safety regulations pertaining to the work;
- Basic computerized record keeping applications
- Codes and regulations applicable to the work
Ability to:
- Be on-call on a rotational basis and work outside of regular work hours as necessary, including weekends and holidays
- Perform a variety of repair, and maintenance tasks
- Work under routine and emergency conditions, sometimes in severe weather
- Understand and follow instructions and directions
- Perform a wide variety of physically strenuous tasks
- Enter data into computer system
- Read, interpret, and understand blueprints and construction drawings
- Maintain records
- Maintain and repair equipment and tools;
- Able to work with hand tools
- Ascending or descending ladders
- Able to wear a mask/respirator.
EDUCATION
High School graduation or GED
This position requires that the incumbent has a D, C or B Certificate in Water, a Level 1, 2 or 3 certifications in Collection and a Level 1, 2 or 3 certification in Distribution.
EXPERIENCE:
One year of water and wastewater experience preferred but not required.

Field Technician ( No certifications)- $18.82-$22.59
Field Technician I (D Water Certification, Level 1 collection and distribution certification) -$20.91-$25.10
Field Technician II (C Water Certification, Level 2 collection and distribution certification) – $25.24-30.29
Field Technician III ( B water certification, level 3 collection and distribution certification) – $29.17-$35.00
Actual compensation will be dependent upon experience and license/ certification level.
