DESCRIPTION:Join this virtual session to learn about this amazing paid opportunity with The Scholars Speakers Bureau (SSB). This program is housed within UpRISE and was created to empower students to use their voice to speak on issues that matter to them.Participants will be trained on leadership, public speaking, advocacy, and civic engagement, and will be provided with general professional development. At the end of the program, the Scholar Speakers Bureau will join an Advocacy Day at the Colorado Capitol and give a presentation to partners and stakeholders to put these skills into action. Participants will be given agency to identify specific topics they would like to advocate for. Through hands-on training, project-based work, and dedicated support, we will provide students with the tools and experience they need to make a real-world impact.UpRISE is a youth-led community movement that aims to engage and empower. Young people are encouraged, through partnerships with adult community advocates, to push for social or policy change in their communities that will benefit all youth. UpRISE is housed within the Hub for Youth Engagement and the Center for Public Health Practice through the Colorado School of Public Health and the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Join this info session to learn more about the application process and meet with their leadership team directly!
