DESCRIPTION:Our SMBC Meet and Greet Series is a unique opportunity to meet and interact with the various business areas that hire interns and analysts. This session will feature overviews of five business groups followed by a Q&A session.Note: You are welcome to attend as many of the Meet and Greet sessions as you like. You can find each session’s participating business groups on our events central page here.Corporate TreasuryThe Treasury function manages capital actions and capital planning, executes capital stress testing​, and monitors ALM & Balance Sheet Management: IRR management, FRM (Financial Resource Management) hedging activity, NII and economic value stress testing, FTP, CFF, and liquidity management.Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)FP&A manages financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting for the organization. The team provides senior management with a forecast of the organization’s income statement and operating performance, which informs progress of the organization’s strategic plans and uses data to advise management on key decisions on improving performance, mitigating risk, or identifying new growth opportunities.ControllersControllers ensure that the firm meets all the financial control and reporting obligations of AD. We engage and partner with auditors and regulators to ensure the firm grows in a disciplined manner and in adherence to accounting standards, tax requirements, and regulatory reporting requirements. We provide front-to-back support for the firm’s existing and new businesses and play a pivotal role in driving the firm’s strategic initiatives.Risk ManagementThe Risk Management Department, Americas Division (RMDAD) comprehensively and dynamically manages the risks facing SMBC across various risk stripes and categories. RMDAD plays a critical role in SMBC’s “second line of defense,” overseeing and monitoring risks across the firm, creating sound risk management policies, principles, and frameworks, and working to ensure strong controls are in place to manage and promote informed risk taking.
