Navy Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Northwest has openings for civilian environmental engineers/physical scientists at the General Series (GS) 07/09 level, with potential conversion to the full performance level of GS-12. Starting salary range for the positions are GS-7: $54,896 – $71,366 Per Year / GS-9: $67,147 – $87,291 Per Year.

NAVFAC Northwest plans, builds, and maintains sustainable facilities and delivers environmental, utilities, and other base services to support the Navy mission in the Northwest.
Qualifications for our openings include a bachelor’s degree in engineering, physical science, or mathematics that includes 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. Recent graduates will be considered for acceptance into one of our entry-level career development programs, which provide meaningful training and career development opportunities for individuals who are at the beginning of their Federal service.
Key duties of the position(s) include:
- You will perform support functions for environmental program managers to ensure compliance with Federal laws, State environmental regulation and Navy environmental policy.
- You will assist in the execution of the Environmental Restoration program.
- You will Perform tasks such as writing Scopes of Work, creating government estimates, and negotiating contract task orders with various contractors (e.g. CLEAN, RAC, EMACs, 8a).
- You will review Environmental Restoration documents (e.g. PA, RI, FS, PRAPs, RODs, EE/CA) and update Environmental Restoration (ER) databases (e.g. NIRIS, NORM), as directed.
- You will Assist in Environmental Restoration (ER) meetings with Federal and State Environmental regulators.
