CPAC hosts exhibitions each year that showcase the finest examples of contemporary photography from local, national, and international artists. All of our exhibitions are free and open to the public. This position assists with the planning and execution of several exhibitions and events. Schedule of internship is based around exhibition calendar, meaning interns may need to work extended hours on Mondays. It is ideal for someone embarking on a career in Art History, Studio Art, or Curatorial Studies. Learning objectives include:
- Helping prepare for installation and de-installation of exhibitions within the galleries
- Assisting with the processing of work received and shipped, including proper handling of photographs
- Creating exhibition materials (artist statements, wall labels, caption sheets, exhibition catalogs)
- Become familiar with NEON and entering information related to exhibitions and artists into database
- Sharing the responsibility with other interns and staff of monitoring the gallery during open hours
- Welcome to attend opening reception events!
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
Applicants who apply should be organized, detail-oriented, able to work diligently with minimal supervision, passionate about the industry, energetic, and creative. Commitment to providing superior customer service and computer skills are required. Knowledge of photography and Adobe Photoshop skills are preferred. Flexible schedule to include Monday for preparing gallery for exhibits.
