Overview:
Mosaic Therapy Collective is launching a new mental health access initiative through a community-based fundraising event—a Pickleball Tournament—to create a Low-Cost Therapy Fund. This fund will support free or significantly reduced-cost therapy sessions for underserved community members while also supporting training opportunities for early-career mental health professionals.
We are seeking a passionate and driven undergraduate intern to take the lead on this fundraising and community-based event. The intern will help conceptualize, organize, market, and implement the tournament while developing outreach, networking, and event coordination skills.
This role is hybrid: much of the planning and communication can be done remotely, but in-person attendance is required for event execution and occasional promotional activities leading up to the event.
Preferred Majors:
- Psychology, Social Work, Communications, Marketing, Business, Nonprofit Management, or related majors
- Open to all majors with a demonstrated interest in mental health, event planning, or nonprofit fundraising
- Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and propose local venues, vendors, and partners for the tournament
- Create and maintain a timeline and task list for planning and executing the event
- Reach out to potential sponsors, donors, vendors, and community collaborators weekly
- Help coordinate volunteer roles, including therapy trainees and staff
- Design and update promotional materials for both print and digital platforms
- Assist in fundraising campaign strategy (social media, GoFundMe or similar platforms)
- Promote the event and therapy fund via social media, newsletter, and community channels
- Coordinate with the other intern(s) to ensure aligned marketing and event schedules
- Attend and help run the in-person tournament event and any related tabling or kickoff events (2–3 expected throughout the semester)
- Contribute to post-event reflection and outcome evaluation
Learning Outcomes:
- Fundraising & Event Management:
- Gain real-world experience planning and executing a mental health-focused community fundraiser
- Learn sponsorship outreach, donor engagement, and grassroots fundraising strategies
- Understand the connection between fundraising and access to mental health care
- Marketing & Content Creation:
- Create branded promotional content for events and initiatives
- Apply digital marketing techniques to increase event visibility and community participation
- Professional Communication & Networking:
- Build relationships with local businesses, nonprofits, and mental health advocates
- Develop communication strategies for outreach, partnership-building, and donor relations
- Social Impact & Mental Health Advocacy:
- Deepen understanding of equitable access to therapy and mental health systems
- Contribute to a meaningful project that expands services to underserved populations
- Reflection & Professional Growth:
- Engage in self-reflection, feedback integration, and supervision with a licensed psychologist
- Identify personal strengths and growth areas in leadership, planning, and community engagement
Benefits:
- Flexible scheduling (5–10 hours/week)
- 1:1 mentorship from Mosaic’s CEO, a licensed psychologist
- Hands-on experience in nonprofit-style event planning and community fundraising
- Opportunities to attend in-person community events and network with local organizations
- Ability to earn academic credit through coordination with your institution
- Resume-building experience in both mental health and event/project management
