You’ve probably heard of nonverbal communication; things like eye contact and body posture. But were you aware of the effects it can have on your chances of landing a job or moving up in a company?

>> Non-verbal communication would be things like your body language, your facial expressions; eye contact also would be a form of non-verbal communication. I always thought that, you know, the non-verbal was just as important if not more important than your verbal because you can-- you can say things out of your mouth but if you're, you know, slouching in your chair, you're looking in a different direction, and really not respecting or paying any attention to the person that you're, you know, talking to it really makes a bad impression and really shows that you are not interested in what they have to say. So, for example, if I'm talking to you I'm sitting up in my chair, I'm leaning forward, my eyes are focused on you, I'm showing you that I'm interested in what you have to say. You know, what-- what would it tell you if my eyes were looking everywhere, I was slouched over; that would leave a bad impression, that would tell you that, you know, I could really care less about what you had to say.
