WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
The Underfoot Systems is focused on inventing future cushioning technologies and systems. The team consists of a collection of engineers, scientists, and innovators with a passion to create new technologies that benefit all of the world’s athletes*. The team works from end to end, understanding athlete needs, delivering new concepts through ideation, method of make development and validation to advance cushioning systems for all athletes.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for a curious and creative intern with a passion for learning and pushing the limits of what’s possible. As a Cushioning Engineer Intern, you will support the development of new performance based cushioning systems that result in growth opportunities and competitive advantages in the marketplace. This is a hands-on role that supports research and development of product innovations.
Requirements for the position include:
Pursuit of a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field with a graduation date of December 2025 or May 2026.
Proven project management skills including experience with project tracking tools
Experience creating and executing Design of Experiments (DOE)
Comfortable running complex machinery with high regard for safety
Familiarity with systems thinking approach and application
Strong data analytics: capture, analysis, and presentation skills (e.g., Tableau, R, Python-based libraries, a plus)
Excellent multi-tasking and organization skills
Systematic and creative problem-solving skills
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use manual tools
Experience creating and/or interpreting 3D models with design engineering software such as Rhino, Solidworks, a plus.
Strong communication skills with ability to communicate across a variety of audiences
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
As our Underfoot Systems Innovation Graduate Intern, you’ll work with the Underfoot Systems Innovation team to evaluate and characterize future cushioning systems to help us better understand their function and performance. To do this successfully you will have a strong engineering problem solving mindset, a bias for getting your hands dirty, a self-starter mentality, and a positive energy that you show up with every day. You will be curious at your core, willing to challenge assumptions and imagine new possibilities. You will also exhibit an ability to clearly communicate complex technical topics to diverse audiences and at all levels within the organization.
