Reem Shafi, Owner and CEO, Two Rivers Dental

My name is Reem Shafi, and I am the CEO of Two Rivers Dental. I am the dental chief operations personnel at the office, at the dental offices. I own 20 locations in Chicago and one in California. So I like to practice from time to time 'cause I think if you practice, it keeps you involved in dentistry. I also think that you stay in touch with what is going on with your own dental offices. So part of my job is is to literally practice one day a week at least in some of my locations. I also do philanthropic work, which is we are open, we open our dental offices to treating the underserved population once a month, free dentistry. But my daily running, or my daily job would be operations and strategy. I'm more involved in the daily running of my practices. And then strategy, what is happening, what are we up against as other dental offices grow. We are looking at how we can shape ourselves and make ourselves ready for the future. Operations is literally kinda looking at numbers, evaluating numbers, looking at growth, getting the information from my software, and trying to figure out where do we stand, what is our approach, how do we market ourselves, how do we look at getting new patients, and really looking at profit and loss statements. So on a daily basis, part of my eye is looking ahead and the other side is what are we doing currently. What are the numbers, what are the revenues, and how do I make a good equilibrium between the revenue side and the profit side. So those are the things that I'm pretty much looking at on a daily basis. I usually go to a location once a day, I am in a location. Fridays, I leave it for the corporate office, I'm in the corporate office and we have strategy meetings. We forecast, we are doing staff training. And so, I'm in locations pretty much once a day.
